This commercial was to promote the fact that Green Flag was now
sponsoring the English Football team
Terry Venables, the manager, was about to be delayed for a vital
match because his car had broken down. Of course Green Flag fixed
his car so that he could get there on time.
This was all shot at very low light levels with Kini-Flo's, well
except for the wide shot of Wembley that took a day to light!
The shots in the control room were originally scheduled to be shot
with a wall of 12K's firing through windows but I loved the look
of the place with just the desk lamps on. So we killed every other
light in the building an set the desk lamps into precise rows and
shot. T1.3 with crossed fingers :-)
The director AD & I were almost killed when a car came shooting
over the crest of a road we were recce'ing and hit the kerb and
went into orbit. The car cleared the tops of streetlights and was
a total write-off. Apparently the driver had seen us in dark blue
waterproofs with high visibility waistcoats and thought we were
police and swerved as a result. He was doing 110mph in a 60 zone.
